The Definition Of The Word "Hacker"

I'm a complete nerd and that is a fact I've accepted a long time ago. Maybe that is why I fell in love with computers & decided to study them in college. For those of you who still don't know, I study computer science in college with a major in artificial intelligence which is a pretty high-end-sciency-kinda field.
It all started with website designing when I was 10 years old (yup, I've designed my first website at 10) which lead me to learn html (THE worldwide web language) around that time as well.
It was then that my understanding of this vast field started to unfold. This brings me to the main topic of this thread : Hackers !
Over the years, as the internet revolution was striking, people started to buy computers like candies. It became the must have item. With this revolution came a new kind of "brainiacs" among the hacking community : the crackers !
Hackers & crackers are in a way from the same community. I do not want to bore you with details of the jargon but basically a hacker builds things and a cracker destroys things. Ergo if someone sends you a virus that guys is not a hacker he is a cracker !
There's a whole philosophical concept around those two basic words which would be dilatory for the point I'm trying to make here which is that people starts to use words without understanding their true meaning which leads to intense situations from times to times.
I'm not making these posts to put an emphasis on how articulate I could be but just to point out that a lot of conflicts and misunderstandings could be avoided just if we took the time to listen to what we say and to how we say it.
Thence, this will conclude the string of threads entitled "The Definition Of The Word..." !
