The Definition Of The Word "Terrorism"

An episode of my favorite cop show (Law & Order) got me thinking, as usual. Here's the synopsis : A stockbroker is beaten to death and the investigation leads to an illegal street-fighting ring. Issues around misuse of terrorism statutes are explored.

So we explore how the legal, social and moral term "Terrorism" should be used in our western societies. Therefore I'm asking you people who should we label "a terrorist" ?

If we want to follow the definition of the word merely like it was intended, here it is :

The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.

Considering that fact, the Catholic Church in their crusades period were terrorists. When the Burundi civil war broke out, the Hutu and the Tutsi were terrorists in the eyes of each other. Every governments waging a "justified" war is a terrorist in the eyes of the innocents bystanders.

Thinking that the "successful" ones (Ben Ladin & his posse) are the only one waging a war on terror on our societies is a huge mistake.

We're living in a world filled with fear and a lot of people want us to keep living that way, because we are more manageable when we're scared shitless : From the president who wants to be easily elect or re-elect to the gang bangers, they can all be tied to that terror and circle of violence....

Meanwhile you can enjoy a short clip of the episode who started all this :
