Samael's Sentience : The Story

I'll be explaining to y'all on this thread the story of Samael's Sentience however you could merely hit the play button on the widget embedded on the left if you want to enjoy the ride right away or merely download the whole album by clicking here.

Nevertheless as I've said in the thread introducing The Pilgrimage Of Samael Angel there's some facts that need to be made aware of, in order for y'all to deeply comprehend this story.

The most important aspects of the story will be explained in this thread however if you'd like to understand the most cryptic part of the lyrics (song after song) you'll have to download the album booklet.

Before we start the explanation of the second chapter I thought I should do a quick recap for all those who didn't listen to the first chapter (Samael Angel) & for all those who forgot a little bit what went down in the SamaelVerse (Samael Universe).

Recap of "Samael Angel"

We were introduced to a character named Samael Angel who was the result of the incestuous relationship of his parents since they were cousins. Because of that relationship his childhood was a living hell which made it hard for Samael to connect with others & be a descent person. It subsequently led to people calling him the one thing he couldn't be : Mr Nice.

He then escaped his past and ended up in the streets where he met a strange man named Garry aka Mr Garry aka Mr G. Samael thought the latter was interested in him for a sexual purpose however Mr G motives were different. Indeed he saw in Nice something that reminded him of himself at that age (16) which prompted him to invite Samael to a party at his house as a sign of charity. At that party Samael suffered a dissociative state which resulted in the birth of a dark & despicable character who turned out to be Samael's alter ego : Drunka ! He was everything Samael was, but ten times worse : pedophile, murderer, mythomaniac, etc...

Because Samael thought his black outs, caused by his state of dissociation, was the result of his alcoholism & drugs use he then vowed to clean up his act. That choice then directed him to meet a man that put him on a path of respectability : Mr D.

After Samael sobered up he was offered the opportunity to be groomed under Mr G's wings by Mr G himself. However his motives turned out to be sinister after all. Indeed he recruited Nice because of his broken moral compass & his clear ambition. Samael has then been assimilated to Mr G's secret society : the Evocati. They were a league of men & women who were judges, jurys & executioners toward the most elusive & vile persons of their world. Therefore the Evocati tracked down murderers, rapist, pedophiles, etc, in order to round them up & kill them without any regard for the law. The irony was that Mr G was also a loathsome person but apparently they've found a way to justify his "indiscretions".

Samael then went from Mr Nice to teen in the streets to member of a group killing people they've judged guilty. As one goes along he buried his guilt & convinced himself that what he was doing was for the good of the people. On their quest of justice the Evocati core stumbled upon a murderer & pedophile who has been leaving a path of sorrows & destruction wherever he went. We'll then learned that the monster the Evocati was after is none other that Drunka, Samael's alter ego !

The story behind Drunka's real "birth" was then revealed. Indeed the first time he's been awaken was not at Mr G's party, he was sentient before Samael left his home. Apparently, not only Samael's father had the same "trait" as Drunka but also, he expressed his distorted version of love upon his own son, Samael Angel. The mother unwilling or just scared, tried to pretend nothing was happening until one day Samael snapped and killed them in the most gruesome & horrible way. That is when Drunka took over in order to protect his maker from this truth.

Now aware of his "indiscretions" Samael realized his newfound brothers & sisters (from the Evocati core) would not understand therefore he tried to escape but he has been captured. They felt so betrayed that for days they just laid upon him their wrath & disappointment fiercely. Normally when they are about to kill someone "who deserved it" they do it with a sword. Apparently it's a form of respect even though it sounds contradictory. Nevertheless in Samael's case they were so hurt they've decided to shoot him and leave him for dead.

Afterward Samael experienced something peculiar which could be categorized as a near-death experience & was then given a second lease on life which is when the first chapter ended.

Story of "Samael's Sentience"

The story starts 12 months after Samael got shot, "died", went back to heaven (or hell) & was subsequently sent back to amend his wrongs. Samael seems to be stuck in a weird place where he still feels guilty over the things he did the year before & at the same time he's angry over the way the Evocatis tried to kill him even though he deserved that punishment !

The first songs will then deal with that guilt & apparent desire of redemption. Which will lead Samael to discover the world he's been living in. His life has been a roller coaster which could be a justification to his self involvement however slowly he starts to know more & more about his universe.

We'll then uncover the world's story as Samael learns it himself. This whole chapter will then see Samael's blinders being lifted which will bring him toward a definite sentience... 

I didn't want to put an emphasis on countries, religions, ethnicities etc (which is also why Samael's gray). I wanted the places & the characters to be generic so that they could be anyone, anywhere at anytime !

Which lead us to the plethora of new names, places & terms introduced in this chapter. Ergo, for you to comprehend them here are the most important in the following lexicon :

Lexicon

• The E's : The Evocati
• God : A political character (by opposition to a religious one) & his heirs are ruling the kingdom which is a mere country on a lambda planet. You then understand the choice I made for the capital's name : Heaven City !
• Heaven City : The capital of the kingdom they are living in which is often shortened by "HC"
• HQ : It's the Evocati's headquarters
• Evocati's War Council : A council made of Evocati's high ranking members which is summoned in war time & also when they go after high profile "cases"
• Red Campaign Or Campaign Red : This is the name of the first war the E's waged on Heaven City
• Mrs G : The wife of Mr G who's often called "Mrs Garry" or "Mrs Girl" or merely "G" as well

• He Lived By The Sword Almost Died By The Gun : Samael seeks an apparent vengeful path after the Evocati's retaliation

• Is That Lie True ? : Samael's prophecy is revealed & so is the true demon of his universe

• He Folds His Fangs : The Evocati's war council is summoned & Nice sobriety is in jeopardy

• "The Misplaced Prayer" : This is a narrative slam poem where we learn more about Samael's roots & the importance of his destiny

• Die Tonight : Samael tries to come to terms with what he has to do to his newfound sibling

• God III : Drunka exhibits some jealous tendency toward the "real" bad guy of their world

• Clips In My Pocket : Samael is looking for the right ammunitions which might put an end to his sibling's reign of terror without any unnecessary bloodshed

• It's Not Alright Feat. Sinima : Samael feels nostalgic of the time he was not sentient

• "A Oração Do Amor" : This is a narrative slam poem where Samael lets his feelings toward Mrs G overwhelm him, as the Evocati are getting ready to wage war on Heaven City

• Evocati : The love Samael had for Mrs G caused a predicament for the entire Evocati core

• Don't Eat Where You Crap : Samael's guilt is crushing his spirit & his sobriety becomes a distant memory

• Days Of Roses & Wine : As they are gearing up for a war that might lead to another campaign red, Samael & his peers are trying to put behind them their insouciant days

• I Wish I Had More Time Feat. Sinima : Samael reminisces about the time he spent with those he loved, days before his epic battle

• "La Prière Fraternelle" : This is a narrative slam poem taking place on the eve of the war between the Evocati & Heaven City

• The Rise Of A Devil : We will have a glimpse at Samael's rise echoing the Evocati's demise

It's the story of an angel who was born an impure being because of the sins of his parents.
Those sins will be eating him alive until it reaches the critical point
where it'll be crippling his soul, turning him into a magnificent devil.
Ergo he was born in sin, he will live a sinful life and will subsequently die because of those sins...
